REPORTS
DUBLIN SOUTHSIDE CURIAE
Ancilla Domini Curia
The recent Patricians entitled ‘St Patrick: Priest, Prophet, Pilgrim’ had an attendance of nine (9). The topic for the next Patricians will be `True Devotion’. The annual Acies ceremony, which included Mass, was held on 22 March. Refreshments were served in Myra House afterwards. The junior praesidium, which is functioning well, presented their annual report to the last Curia meeting. Street contact takes place in the Temple Bar area on Saturdays. Miraculous Medals are distributed to all who are encountered. A praesidium is making a special effort to recruit new members by including recruitment on the weekly agenda and encouraging all members to carry recruiting cards with them at all times.
Benedicta Curia
The Acies took place on 21 March. A praesidium providing a music ministry supports a member who is ill. Our Lady of Victories junior praesidium visited a Leaving Cert class and distributed Miraculous Medals and explanatory leaflets. A member visiting her home in the Philippines gave out nineteen (19) Miraculous Medals to friends and construction workers during her stay. A praesidium’s main work is visitation to patients in St. James’s Hospital. They distribute medals and literature and seek out patients who are lonely or need a visit. There were six (6) recruiting efforts.
Mater Ecclesiae Curia
A praesidium with ten (10) active members delivered its annual report. Works includes hospital visitation where they visit the spinal ward, amputee ward, stroke ward, and children’s ward to bring support and consolation to people who have very severe life changing injuries. They present hundreds of medals, Rosaries and green scapulars. Legionaries lead a Thursday men’s rosary which includes working with people suffering from addiction. Other work includes visiting nursing homes and a hospital where they lead the recitation of the Rosary. They also carry out street contact in Dún Laoghaire. A lady who is non-Catholic, and who wants to become a Catholic, is supported including accompanying her to Sunday Mass. A Spanish speaking legionary and a priest visited the Spanish circus where Mass was offered for the performers. The title of the recent Patrician meeting was ‘Prayer – Oxygen for the Soul’. Curia Acies Ceremony was held on 21 March with sixty (60) people of all ages attending and renewing their consecration to Mary. After the ceremony there was a social gathering. Curia is planning home visitation in a specific praesidium area on a Saturday morning.
Assumpta Curia
In preparation for the Acies, curia had a discussion on Consecration to Mary. Twenty-five (25) legionaries attended the Acies ceremony on 21 March. Legionaries are undertaking the 33-day preparation for True Devotion and will make their consecration to Jesus, through Mary at the annual Curia retreat on 16 May. City Quay praesidium has three (3) new probationary members, who have been attending since February and are due to take their promise this month. The main work of the praesidium is street contact in Temple Bar and at Sean O’Casey bridge.
Annunciata Curia
A praesidium with three (3) full members and three (3) probationary members prioritises the recruitment of new members and has it as an item on the weekly agenda. Legionaries engage in home visitation and school visitation to the three (3) local primary schools. Contact work is done in Marley Park area during the concert season. Legionaries met a woman who was not attending the concert but engaged with them for a long time and has returned to the practice of the Catholic Faith. As there was no praesidium report in March the Curia discussed the use of the Shorter Breviary, with a view to encouraging praetorian membership. Legionaries agreed that, initially, it is confusing, but even to read any section of it will bring graces and in a short time the week number and Psalter will become familiar. Members were encouraged to start saying the Divine Office or the little Office of the Immaculate Conception, if they find it easier.
Immaculata Curia
Curia organised the annual Mass for now Servant of God Alfie Lambe which was celebrated on 1 March. The Acies was held on Saturday 11 April. Monthly street contact took place on 21 March and 4 April. Annual retreat is planned for 9 May. A praesidium with five (5) members delivers forty (40) Maria Legionis journals per quarter. Other works include home visitation, school visitation several times during the year in union with another praesidium, and leading a public Rosary at a local halting site for the travelling community. Visitation is also made to three (3) local nursing homes each year. Another praesidium, also with five (5) members, includes home and school visitation in its works. Legionaries also organise a monthly Frank Duff prayer meeting and a public rosary at the Legion house.
Gloriosa Curia
Monthly curia street contact and book barrow continue in the Inchicore area. The curia has been given permission by the Oblate fathers to start a praesidium in the Oblate Retreat House. The first meeting is scheduled for Saturday 16 May, with a recruitment drive at all the masses the previous weekend. Curia Lenten Retreat was held in Mount Olivet House recently. An Alfie Lambe Prayer Night to be held in Mount Olivet is at the planning stage. Legionaries are being asked to pray the Edel Quinn prayer on 10, 11, and 12 May as part of their May devotions. A praesidium’s, main works include public Rosary, street contact with distribution of Miraculous Medals and promotion of the Three Legion Causes. Three (3) nursing homes and a psychiatric home are visited regularly. The Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet are prayed with the residents. In one nursing home, the staff set up an altar and prepare hymn sheets, in preparation for the legionaries visit. Twenty-two (22) copies of Maria Legionis are distributed quarterly. Recently a South Korean student joined the praesidium and has given new life and joy to the praesidium. Legionaries have arranged home blessings in three (3) homes in Ballyfermot, with Fr. Sean Collins. At least five (5) more homes are awaiting a blessing. People contacted on this work are given information about the parish and encouraged to have their children baptised. The Stations of the Cross were prayed in the Tesco carpark in Ballyfermot on Good Friday.
IRELAND PROVINCIAL
Clonmacnoise Curia
Mount Temple organise Eucharistic Adoration twice weekly and visit nursing homes and the elderly, with recitation of the Rosary as part of visitation. Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Athlone have public Rosary at the grotto on Our Lady’s feast days. They visit nursing homes, St. Vincent’s Day Care Centre and the elderly living alone. The junior praesidium undertake religious art projects and assist with Mass Liturgy. They are planning to join with other junior praesidia for a shared youth events this summer.
Armagh Curia
There are seven (7) senior, one intermediate and two (2) junior praesidia. attached. The new praesidium in Aughnacloy has four (4) enthusiastic members. Armagh held an Auxiliary Rally, gaining two (2) new members and three (3) possible active members. Works include home to home, housebound and nursing home Rosary visitation, Public Rosary recitation in Dalton Estate at the request of residents and first Saturday Devotions in St. Malachy’s Church. Junior and intermediate Legionaries pray the Rosary and sing hymns in three (3) care homes. They led Stations of the Cross during Lent.
Dromore Comitium
Officers finished their first term with one resignation due to ill health. Elections are pending and the Acies is fixed for 22 March. Newry and Lurgan are currently the only active praesidia. Members attended a Child Safeguarding course on 19 March.
Raphoe Comitium
The praesidium of nine (9) members in Convoy/Raphoe, with a priest Spiritual Director, visit two (2) nursing homes for Rosary and Divine Mercy chaplet. Miraculous Medals are distributed and three (3) Pilgrim statues circulating around the two (2) parishes have lead to more contacts. Stranorlar parish hosted a Peregrinatio Pro Christo (PPC) meeting in February. Two (2) legionaries went on Peregrinatio Pro Christo (PPC) during Holy Week. Ards Friary in Creeslough will host the Comitium Annual Retreat.
Navan Comitium
Kentstown praesidium visited two hundred (200) homes to promote the parish Alpha course. They organised a course for Brazilians preparing for the sacraments and “You Shall Be My Witnesses” for Confirmation children. They recite the Rosary in eight (8) estates during May and June. Beauparc praesidium recite a decade of the Rosary with permission over the school intercom in May and October. Prayer packs are given out to sacrament classes. Four (4) nursing homes are visited and housebound, elderly and ill parishioners are taken shopping or to doctor’s appointments. The Comitium had an impressive Legion of Mary float in the St. Patrick’s Day parade.
Derry Comitium
Mater Dei Curia with forty- five (45) active members covers a wide area. Works include organising public Rosaries and Eucharistic Adoration. All praesidia carry out Rosary Statue apostolate. Young people are the focus for school distribution of Miraculous Medals and literature and facilitating the Rosary and Adoration. Safeguarding is always on the agenda. Extension work has resulted in a new Praesidium in Bellaghy while recruiting continues in Creggan supported by local priests. Two (2) curia members went on Peregrinatio Pro Christo (PPC).
Drogheda Curia
Elections held in March returned a new president and vice-president. The book barrow in the Lawrence Centre gained a few auxiliaries. Consecration to Jesus through Mary begins in April. Consecration Mass is planned for Duleek, a fairly new praesidium. Our Lady, Queen of Peace visit the housebound, a nursing home as well as hospital visitation. Home visitation has resumed for all praesidia. The Acies in St. Peter’s Church was well attended. Fifty- five (55) members are booked for the Eucharistic Adoration Pilgrimage to Knock.
Down and Connor Comitium
Our Lady, Queen of Peace Praesidium has twenty-seven (27) members. Six 6) contacts are made by each, every week. They estimate that every sixty (60) invites lead to one new member. Our Lady of Hope issued one thousand (1,000) invites in a year. Castlewellan issued two hundred and forty(240) invites to join while Down Curia issued one hundred and sixty- nine (169) invites in the last three (3) months. Outreach to those of other faiths were the main focus of a planning meeting in January. One Praesidium organised Jubilee Confessions, attracting sixty (60) to attend. The Comitium organised reflection days on De Montfort Spirituality guided by Fr. John Peyton. An Extension Committee looks at adjoining parishes with a view Legion expansion. The Comitium website is a mine of information and pictures on the Legion of Mary across Belfast.
Leitrim/Longford Curia
Six of the seven praesidia are active. The Slovakian praesidium is dormant while the new one in Granard is active. Work with Travellers continues while two members hope to work occasionally in the Legion Hostels. A new Curia website has been developed. Mohill and Dromod are earmarked for a Maria et Patria (MEP) project with maps and materials. Giftpacks for schools are being prepared. An Exploratio Dominicalis to the Roma community in March and Acies on 24th are planned. The praesidia rotate nursing home visits ‘Is the Catholic Faith the Solution to the Mental Health Crisis’ was the theme of February’s Patrician meeting.
West Clogher Curia
Tweenty- one (21) members attended the Curia meeting. Regular Legion works, including house and nursing home visitation, distribution of Legion sacramentals and visits to Primary and Secondary schools, continue in Enniskillen, Ederney, Magheracloon, Clones, Monaghan and Irvinestown. Acies is fixed for March 29. A healing well, closed for seventy (70) years, has reopened and is maintained by the Legion. A youth faith festival and a Marian pilgrimage were other highlights.
Kilmore Curia
The curia meeting was held in St. Clare’s Parish Centre. Belturbet distribute Legion materials and keep the stand in the church supplied. Cavan are seeking permission to do the same in the Cathedral. Ballyjamesduff is in contact with Oldcastle seeking recruits. The Acies is due in March with the annual retreat to be held after Easter. Legion activities and visitations severely curtailed by heavy rainfall, were due to resume at the end of February.
Dundalk Curia
The curia are mourning the loss of their beloved president, Katrina Loughran, who died in office on March 29th. A kind, devoted and active Legionary for most of her life, she had Archbishop Eamonn Martin celebrate Kilsaran Praesidium’s 100th anniversary in 2024. Katrina’s funeral was attended by many local Legionaries from Dundalk and neighbouring Curiae. May she rest in peace.
EUROPE A
SPAIN
Madrid Senatus
The senatus continues to visit praesidia and councils which belong to Barcelona Senatus, which ceased to function some months ago. The Madrid legionaries are welcomed on these visits. The Madrid Senatus have also named correspondents with some of the outlying Barcelona Councils and praesidia. A new praesidium has started in Barcelona city with fifteen (15) Filippino legionaries, some of whom were active legionaries before arriving in Barcelona. This is a great example to local legionaries. They hold their meetings in their own language. A young adult praesidium do street contact at a local church where youth attend Mass. Some new members come to one meeting but do not return. They are followed up. The praesidium reported that an Evangelical student has been prepared and became a Catholic. Many priests from different countries have come to work in Spain. The majority of these priests know the Legion and continue to work with the Legion in Spain. Some Catholic churches have very small Spanish congregations. These priests from different countries are filling the churches with their devout immigrant congregations. To celebrate the seventy- fifth (75th) anniversary of the Legion in Spain, a one-day meeting is being held for all active legionaries. They will follow the “Call to Arms” system.
Bilbao Senatus
An annual report from Burgos Curia was included in the last Minutes. Members carried out an extension campaign in a new parish. They visit prison inmates and keep in touch with two former prisoners. An encouraging report was received from the praesidium in the city of Vitoria. It has 10 members and 1 in probation. In works of Formation, the Senatus held a liturgy of the Word and a retreat for the anniversary of Alfie Lambe in January. A new recruitment leaflet is being designed as the Senatus expands its book barrow presence in Bilbao city centre.
ITALY
Rome Senatus
The attendance of the directly attached praesidia officers at the Senatus meeting is very low [about twenty- five per cent (25%)]. They explain that most legionaries are old and sometimes sick. The Legion in other parts of Italy are making efforts and appears to be active.
PORTUGAL
Lisbon Senatus
A praesidium directly attached to the senatus has twelve (12) active members and seventy (70) auxiliaries. Visits are reported to congratulate auxiliary members on the anniversary of their baptism. Assistance was given to children with learning difficulties. Setubal Curia hosted an Angolan family for fifteen days and seven (7) young Salesian missionaries. Porto Regia support was provided to gypsies and immigrants. Braga Comitium continues work on extension and reports the foundation of new praesidia.
MALTA
Malta Regia
Peregrinatio Pro Christo (PPC) was carried out in Rome between 13- 20 October 2025. Knocked on over two hundred and forty (245) doors, visited over forty (40) flats, held Columban Drive on Sunday after Mass. Distributed Miraculous Medals and rosary leaflets. A Curia in Malta has eighty- four (84) members with eleven (11) new members joining during 2025. Twenty (20) legionaries made personal contacts in the vicinity of the Legion of Mary Office on the three (3) days prior to the feast of St. Paul. Works included Catechism lessons, home visits, book barrow and hospital visitation.

GREECE
There was a visit by the Maltese Legionaries to the Legion in Thessaloniki, Giannitsa and Rhodes. In Thessaloniki active members regularly visit the homes of the elderly and infirm, or simply phone parishioners and report to the priests those who request Confession and Communion. The Praesidium of Thessaloniki tries to visit Giannitsa on a monthly basis. A new praesidium of Filipinos was established in Rhodes and are now being looked after by Malta. A visit to Thessaloniki is planned for next November which will involve a recruiting drive.
TURKEY
A visit to Turkey was carried out by the Maltese legionaries last October. This resulted in a new praesidium being formed in Ankara with six (6) members. While in Turkey the legionaries met the bishop, who was pleased with the work of the brothers and also impressed with the work of the legionaries whom he appeared to be unaware of. The legionaries visited the five (5) senior praesidia and one junior praesidium. The members were a mix of Filipinos and Africans. One praesidium has twenty- eight (28) members and were advised to split to allow for more active participation and have meetings managed in a timely manner. A visit to Ankara is planned for next October to attend the official opening of the new Ankara praesidium and to try and have them attached to the Istanbul Curia and also to explore the starting of a new praesidium in the other Ankara Parish.
CYPRUS
The Acies was celebrated in Holy Cross Church, Nicosia on the 24 March 2026. Approx fifty (50) attended with legionaries from Limassol and Larnaca joining the two praesidia in Nicosia. Efforts to re-start the Curia which ceased due to COVID in 2022 are continuing. The correspondent has shared the Video, “Miracle of Monto” with the legionaries in Limassol and Nicosia.
NORTH AMERICA
USA
Philadelphia Senatus
Their apostolate includes visiting prisons, hospitals, nursing homes, door to door, street apostolate, Patricians and CCD. Praesidia are being encouraged to establish new praesidia in parishes and schools. Columban Drives already show some success. The new printer for Maria Legionis is getting back to schedule with both the English and Spanish versions.
Arlington Senatus
A new senior Curia has been established with a full slate of officers for four (4) praesidia in Northern Kentucky. They hope to open a junior curia also in Manassas, Virginia. Some juniors are doing a 33-day preparation for the True Devotion Marian Consecration. Their works are visiting nursing homes, circulating the Pilgrim Statue in their schools, making rosary beads and serving Mass.
Los Angeles Senatus
The urgency of recruiting was discussed. They display recruitment flyers and plan more frequent drives and crowd contact for this purpose. The need for more juniors and more young people is constantly being encouraged. A Legion Congress is planned for 13 June. A Korean Curia in Los Angeles was reorganised according to the Legion System.
St. Louis Senatus
They visit the homeless, prisons, and the sick and bring people to Mass and to doctor appointments. They plan to advertise the Legion’s one hundred and fifth (105th) anniversary using billboards and banners. They have a large cash on hand but are hoping to do extension and visit attached Councils.
San Francisco Senatus
Reports were taken from five (5) praesidia and four (4) Councils. One convert now serves as OCIA catechist. A new praesidium of twelve (12) in Nevada encourages the spirit of being always on duty and assigns a pair to do weekly recruitment. Seattle Comitium mentions campus outreach at Washington Anniversary. The Korean Comitium reported on crowd contact, Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fatima and catechesis. San Mateo Comitium visited seven hundred and fifty (750) homes on evangelisation days. Two (2) extension efforts are ongoing.
Chicago Senatus
One praesidium cares for one hundred and ten (110) auxiliaries and undertake evangelisation and recruitment. Green Bay Curia reported on crowd contact at parish festival and recruited some new members. The Korean Comitium evangelised sixty- one (61) lapsed Catholics resulting in three (3) returns to Church and three (3) receiving anointing of the sick. Detroit Regia hosted a Legion booth at two (2) fairs and started one praesidium.
Houston Senatus
Pharr Curia has grown to fifteen (15) praesidia, including three (3) junior praesidia since June 2023. Two (2) other Curiae gained a senior praesidium each and a total of three (3) junior praesidia. Evangelising at Legion booths at fairs and festivals was reported by three (3) Councils. The praesidium in Ramsey Prison has thirty- six (36) active members, and the bilingual president leads the meetings in English and Spanish.
Boston Senatus
One prison praesidium has between twenty (20) and thirty (30) members. Prison authorities requested that their fortnightly Rosary apostolate in the prison hospital be done weekly now. The praesidium had its own Acies. Attached councils highlight some new praesidia; three (3) in Providence Comitium, one in La Vang Curia, and one in New Haven Comitium.
New York Senatus
Senatus has been blessed with new Spiritual Director; Fr. James Miara. In Brooklyn Hispanic Comitium, a novena for deceased family members, resulted in the non-Catholic members reverting to the Catholic Faith. Also, in Rockville Comitium a Jehovah Witness and her family reverted to the Catholic Faith following visitation with Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fatima. Preparing adults for Baptism was among works done by a Korean Comitium. Newark Comitium held a Congress and did Exploratio weekend project.
Miami Regia
Twelve (12) councils and three (3) praesidia reported. Overall, there was a total of ten (10) junior praesidia noted. One Comitium reported on conversion of a Jewish couple to the Catholic Faith. Following some extension and restructuring in Atlanta, the Regia raised a third English Curia there. This gives Atlanta three (3) English Curiae, three (3) Korean Curiae and potential for a Spanish Curia.
CANADA
Toronto Senatus
Their planning meeting discussed reopening junior praesidia, extension possibilities in six (6) parishes, visitation of all praesidia and Councils and annual audits. Three (3) praesidia reported Pilgrim Statue, nursing home, Crowd Contact and auxiliary care. At one book barrow, non- Catholics were contacted. Highlights from nine (9) Councils included a Rosary Rally in Hamilton and Marian Consecration in two (2) parishes in New Foundland. Winnipeg Curia has grown to twenty- one (21) senior and three (3) junior praesidia.
Vancouver Comitium
A praesidium visited “Skid Row” to contact non-Catholics, lapsed Catholics, indigenous persons and people traumatised due to addiction. A recruitment initiative requires that two (2) legionaries are assigned each week to recruitment. Thus, one curia gained three (3) active, five (5) probationers and twenty-eight (28) auxiliaries. The Comitium will appoint a correspondent to a new praesidium in the Yukon two thousand and four hundred kilometres (2,400 km) from Vancouver.
Montreal Senatus
Annual reunion had a good attendance. Reports were taken from three (3) praesidia and one curia; this curia held a Congress in November. Out of three (3) ongoing extension efforts, a new praesidium with eight (8) members and another with five (5) probation members has started.
Edmonton Comitium
During their annual planning meeting, ways to strengthen weak praesidia were discussed. With help from their Spiritual Director, they prepared a Confession Guide and a Pamphlet on Chastity which they circulate to their churches. Three (3) praesidia reported on nursing home, PVS, Catechesis, Rosary Rally, crowd contact. Five (5) Curiae highlighted recruiting and extension. One curia held an annual retreat for ninety-nine (99) children.
WEST INDIES
Haiti Senatus
Two curia suffered disruption due to civil unrest in their area. Another Curia with seven (7) praesidia, and a Comitium with nine (9) praesidia and two (2) Curiae, have all gained members during the year. Their works include sacramental preparations, contact with non-Catholics, lapsed Catholics, voodoo practitioners, the bereaved, visiting homes, hospitals and prisons. They complete their (seventy- fifth) 75th anniversary celebration with a Thanksgiving Mass in May.
AFRICA B
NIGERIA
Lagos Regia
A comitium, comprised of five hundred and eighty- two (582) senior and one hundred and forty- five (145) junior members, reported significant expansion, including the establishment of two (2) senior and two junior praesidia, as well as three (3) new Curiae. Reported works included home, hospital, and shop visitations; teaching catechism; caring for children during Mass, and visiting police cells. Many candidates are prepared for the sacraments, and couples are assisted in receiving the sacrament of matrimony.
Senatus of Abuja
The Spiritual Directors’ Forum was held in September 2025. Two Bishops, an Auxiliary Bishop and thirty- eight (38) priests attended. The Senatus led a 100 Decade Rosary Procession in January. It was held simultaneously across various Councils under the Abuja Senatus with a huge turnout. The Senatus also organised its annual membership day in January with the theme “Strengthening the Mission of the Object of the Legion of Mary”. As part of the Senatus program for 2026 a seminar for correspondents was held in February.
Onitsha Regia
Reports noted legionaries helped prepare seven hundred and eleven (711) adults for first Holy Communion and two hundred and thirty- seven (237) for the sacrament of confirmation. Three hundred and eighty (380) adults and two hundred and ninety-six (296) infants received the sacrament of baptism. Ten (10) non-Catholics were received into the Catholic Faith. Thirty- two (32) lapsed Catholics returned to practice. Fifty (50) sick calls were arranged twelve (12) of whom passed away. A Comitium with four (4) junior Curiae has five hundred and eighty (580) junior members.
Enugu Senatus
Aba Regia reports helping prepare thousands for First Holy Communion and the Sacrament of Confirmation. Two hundred and eighty- five (285) infant and six hundred and eighty- one (681) adult baptisms. One hundred and sixty- one (161) marriages were rectified and seven (7) were received into the Church.
Jos Regia
Our Lady Queen of Mother of God Comitia undertake Home Visitation, Hospital Visitation, Catechism Instruction, and care of junior praesidia.
Ibadan Senatus
Comprises of three (3) attached Regiae, five (5) directly attached Comitia, thirteen (13) directly attached Curiae, and one junior curia as well as directly attached praesidia. In total there are thirty- two thousand and nine hundred and twenty- one (32,921) legionaries. Three hundred and eighteen (318) catechists helped prepare thousands for the various sacraments. Two hundred and fifty- two (252) marriages were rectified, (143) one hundred and forty- three non-practicing Catholics brought back to the sacraments. One non- Catholic and one hundred and seventy- one (171) Christians converted to the Catholic Faith. A legionary condemned to death was allowed to appeal through legionary prayers and efforts.
UGANDA
Senatus of Uganda
All Councils were instructed to carry out their annual audit. Councils were urged to identify and recommend legionaries that can carry out extension work and are able to spend a week or more on duty. Kabala Regia has one hundred and ten thousand and twenty- two (110,022) active members including seven thousand and nine hundred and fourteen (7,914) praetorians and thirty-five thousand (35,000) auxiliary members. Six hundred and three (603) Anglicans returned to the Catholic Faith and fourteen (14) non-Catholics converted. They have four (4) praesidia in prisons with two hundred and fifty- seven (257) legionaries.
Territories under the care of Uganda
SOUTH SUDAN
The extension mission in South Sudan has primarily focused on two jurisdictions: Archdiocese of Juba and Diocese of Tombura-Yambio. Progress includes development of praesidia in Tombura-Yambio with a Curia elevated to a Comitium, and the establishment of a Comitium in Juba.
ETHIOPIA
The extension mission in Ethiopia, which began in 2024, has recorded meaningful progress despite its relatively short duration. Through missionary visits and collaboration with the local clergy, the Senatus of Uganda has successfully facilitated the establishment of six (6) praesidia in different locations and the formation of a Curia to supervise these.
TANZANIA
Dar-es- Salaam Regia
The Regia is planning to organise a conference for priests to promote interest in the Legion of Mary. They are also setting up an English speaking praesidium. Visitation of attached praesidia and councils is ongoing.
Hai Moshi Comitium
Works reported on include home and hospital visitation, encouraging couples to marry in Church and preparing adults and children for the Sacraments.
THE GAMBIA
Banjul Curia
Curia is busy organising a pilgrimage to Our Lady of Peace Shrine Kun kujang. The Curia also hopes to do extension work into another parish.
MALAWI
Senatus of Blantyre
A new chaplain was appointed to the Legion of Mary in November, and elections for secretary were held in January. The 2026 programme of events, which includes a Youth Congress, has been forwarded to the correspondent. A workshop for correspondents also took place in January. Activities reported include home and hospital visitation, catechism classes for young people, religious instruction for school children, and sacramental preparation for children. Members also support bereaved families and encourage cohabiting couples to receive the sacrament of matrimony. Young legionaries visit universities to recruit new members. In March, two (2) legionaries undertook a fact-finding mission to Harare, Zimbabwe, creating opportunities for mutual learning for the two (2) countries.
Senatus of Maula
Works undertaken include home visitation, catechesis, visits to bereaved families, outreach to lapsed members, and visits to the sick and elderly. Reports include eight (8) cohabiting couples had their marriages rectified. Three (3) youths returned to practice after visits from legionaries. Two (2) families were visited regarding children absent from catechism classes; all have resumed. Nineteen (19) families who had fallen away from the church have since returned. A retreat was held for junior legionaries in December 2025. The Legion of Mary participated in Mission Sunday 2025 with large attendance, and many attendees expressed interest in joining the Legion of Mary, follow-up is underway.
ZAMBIA
Lusaka Regia
Works reported include home and hospital visitation. Legionaries visit small Christian communities sharing the Word of God. A Comitium reports visiting a police station and praying with one hundred and ten (110) inmates. A woman who attempted suicide thanked God for sending the legionaries who saved her life.
KENYA
Senatus of Kenya
Fifty- eight (58) attended the monthly prayers at Venerable Edel Quinn’s grave. Plans are underway for the annual Mass. All councils had a Frank Duff Mass in November. Kisumu Regia reports six hundred and eighty- six (686) adults were prepared for baptism and four hundred and seventy- three (473) infants were baptised. Forty- seven (47) commercial workers were counselled and two (2) reformed and found alternative work. Sixteen (16) alcoholics reformed. Two hundred and sixteen (216) returns to the sacraments, two hundred and seventeen (217) joined instruction classes and two hundred and twenty (220) new legionaries were recruited.
Bungoma Regia
Parents of one thousand and six hundred and forty- eight (1,648) infants were encouraged to have their children baptised and one thousand and one hundred and twenty- four (1,124) agreed. Six hundred and two (602) adults returned to the sacraments and three hundred and sixteen (316) adults were prepared for baptism. Four (4) new praesidia were set up.
Machakos Comitium
Two hundred and forty- four (244) adults were recruited for catechism classes, one hundred and ninety (190) lapsed legionaries returned to active membership and one hundred and seventy- three (173) new members were recruited.
