INDIA:
Kerala Senatus
Up to June 3 comitia, 2 curiae and 2 praesidia gave reports. Hospital visitation is done with Catholic and non-Catholic patients. Homes are enthroned to the Sacred Heart. The junior curia consists of 7 praesidia. 1,400 homes were visited by one comitium to undertake a family prayer campaign. The annual audit has been completed.
Pondicherry Senatus
6 praesidia, 6 curiae and 2 comitia reported in this period. Village evangelisation was carried out after which 17 returned to practice their faith. Training camps are conducted for legionaries in villages where illiteracy is common.
Chennai Senatus
74 attended the June and July meetings. Frank Duff prayer meetings are held, peace was restored to 11 families,1 lapsed returned to practice after 45 years. Many homes are enthroned to the Sacred Heart.
Mumbai Senatus
A praesidium reports recruiting 112 auxiliary members between April and July. The curia in Nepal and the new comitium in Delhi have many auxiliary, adjutorian and praetorian members. A large praesidium in Mumbai city has an apostolate to women in domestic service. It also visits cancer, leprosy and HIV-positive households as special works. A Goan comitium prayed at Catholic wakes on 275 occasions. In all major cities the Legion visits students at exam time and prays for their success.
Karnataka Senatus
2 curiae and 5 comitia reported between April and July 2026. Catechism is taught, inmates are visited in prisons, Special Needs children are visited and in one case 3,950 Catholic homes were visited.
Vishakhpatnam Regia in this period reported on 2 praesidia with 17 and 19 members, 2 curiae with 271 and 121 members and 1 comitium with 1,789 members. The sick, bereaved, disabled and prisoners are among those visited.
Kottar Regia
March to June minutes. In May and October various councils organised processions which had attendances of between 1,000 and 2,000. On prison and school visitation, due to Government restrictions, no bibles, rosaries, prayers books etc. can be brought in and vocal prayer is also prohibited. In other contact work, 2 Hindu patients were taught to pray the Rosary, physical therapy was provided for a Hindu man paralyzed by a stroke. A junior praesidium of 9 members, a mixed praesidium of 25 and the revival of a curia were reported in April, 3 new praesidia and a curia were established in one area and numerous other new praesidia were reported on in various attached Legion councils.
THAILAND:
6 months minutes were received and will be included in the next report.
PAKISTAN:
Karachi comitium with 15 praesidia and a curia of 12 praesidia have 400 active and 200 auxiliary members. Visitation of homes of Catholics and non-Christians is carried out. The Rosary is prayed with families. In June a new praesidium was set up in the parish of St. James.
SRI LANKA:
12 comitia, 2 curiae, 12 praesidia and a junior curia makes up the Senatus. A Spiritual Bouquet was prepared for a member who completed 70 years as a member, now aged 85 he joined when he was 15 years old. Families displaced by a recent cyclone were helped with repairs and clean up. 45 homes accepted the Pilgrim Statue during May.
HOLY LAND:
A number of curiae were unable to hold meetings because of the war. For the same reason the Acies and retreat had to be postponed. Despite this praesidia gained 4, 2 and 6 members.
LEBANON:
No minutes received but a legionary was in touch to say that while the country in not fully stable, there are hopes that peace and security will prevail.
ARMENIA
April and May minutes received. Fr. Joseph informed the curia that the preliminary version of the handbook is being double checked. The praesidium visits the prison – the Sisters of Mother Teresa supply sweets and toys for the children while the legionaries supply miraculous medals, rosaries and religious literature. The prisoners look forward to the visits.
VIETNAM:
Minutes to July. In this period 6 comitia, 3 curiae and 1 regia reported. In most areas the bishops and priests give great support to the Legion of Mary. The councils which reported have 105 senior and 7 junior curiae with 14,710 senior and 1,219 junior members along with 11,498 auxiliary members. They are being encouraged to arrange more Legion congresses every 2 years especially for legionaries living at a distance. They are emphasising the need for recruitment of younger members who can learn from the experienced legionaries and be ready to take over from the elderly who in time will not be there.
MYANMAR:
2 comitia, 1 curia and 8 praesidia reported in this period. All praesidia and councils are visited by their higher councils. Home and hospital visitation is widely carried out.
EUROPE B
GERMANY:
Frankfurt Senatus
An English speaking praesidium was established in Heidelberg 6 months ago. It has developed into an international praesidium of approx. 16 young adult legionaries from several countries and continents. Works include the distribution of the Miraculous Medal, welcoming people to the church, having discussions about the faith and providing pastoral care. A praesidium work involves supporting the Alpha Course and visiting dementia patients in hospital. Munich Regia has 226 active and 2318 auxiliary members. Works include Rosary bead making with First Holy Communion children, praying the Stations of the Cross with children, organizing Holy Hours, street apostolate, bringing Holy Communion to the sick, book-barrow work, visits to nursing homes and graveyard apostolate. An article on legion work published in a parish newsletter resulted in the Legion being introduced to 2 out of 8 parishes. A youth PPC arranged by Senatus of Austria, was assisted by German youth legionaries. Street apostolate was undertaken and it was a rewarding experience. In May, five legionaries took part in a PPC project in Lourdes. On another project, 1,031 contacts were made, half with young people, 308 refusals and 742 Miraculous Medals were distributed.

The council has 6 praesidia with 36 active, 3 probationary and 57 auxiliary members. Works includes support of the priest in his ministry, preparing for Mass, leading the Rosary, visitation of the sick and housebound with Holy communion.
Siberia Curia:
Works include participation in overnight vigils, care of children and accompanying the priest on visits to homes and villages. The German correspondent and a German and Russian speaking priest travelled to Kazakhstan in August to meet with the officers of Siberia and Kazakhstan.
ENGLAND:
Birmingham Senatus:
The work of one praesidium includes call backs resulting from PPC team, school rosary, visiting the sick and elderly, crowd contact, nursing home and statue visitation is also carried out. A curia does prison visitation work, helping to organize communion service, Holy Mass and Rosary groups in the prisons. Another curia does crowd contact work in Bullring area, legionaries from different praesidia come together to pray the Rosary before going in pairs to engage with members of the public. A lady who had not been attending Mass for 4 years was met on the street contact and continues to be supported. Two junior praesidia distribute rosary packs, serve at Sunday Masses, and help with tasks at home. With the help of Swansea curia a new curia was formed in Cardiff with 2 affiliated praesidia.
Brentwood Regia
A recruitment drive was carried out in Lewisham and Tolworth. 40 persons contacted, led to 5 new members. A man stopped 2 legionaries doing home to home in the street who said, “Because of your visit, my two daughters became Catholic”. A praesidium showed a power point presentation of the Legion of Mary to 135 confirmation candidates concluding with a quiz and testimonies given by a few legionaries. A praesidium’s work includes door-door, hospital visitation nursing homes and visiting housebound parishioners. In the course of home visitation 266 homes were called up and the parish newsletter was left for those with no reply. A curia has 7 praesidia with 42 active, 149 auxiliaries and 21 probationers. Through home to home visitation and also a PPC project held last year, 7 contacts joined the RCIA programme last September and were received into the Church at Easter. A praesidium’s work includes home visits to the parents of First Communion children. The parents were given a leaflet about the importance of the Eucharist. Another praesidium’s work includes visiting homes of the First Holy Communion children with the statue of Our Lady of Fatima - to prepare the children and their families for receiving the sacrament of Holy Communion.
Central London Curia:
A praesidium with 10 active and 72 auxiliaries do book-barrow, crowd contact, children’s liturgy and nursing home visitation. One of their members helped to start 3 junior praesidia in a curia. On Our Lady's birthday they hosted a lunch and had a book-barrow at the parish hall to a full house. On an Edel Quinn pilgrimage they made 172 contacts, gave 32 rosaries, 157 Miraculous Medals and leaflets, 17 Frank Duff, 35 Edel, and 16 Alfie leaflets. The curia recently held a very good Legion Congress. A junior praesidium of 5 active members gives out the miraculous medal and explaining the story, do altar serving, reading at Mass, helping at home, church cleaning, choir, crowd contact, carol service at local hospice.
Liverpool Senatus:
Middlesbrough Comitium has 4 praesidia with 58 active members and 20 auxiliaries, works include home-to-home, care homes, Holy Communion to sick and housebound, visits to schools to teach the rosary and Stations of the Cross. Leeds Curia has 9 seniors and 1 junior. Works include, home visitation, lapsed Catholics, crowd contact, marriage preparation, nursing homes, sick and housebound, book-barrow, rosary in schools.

Sweden
There are 13 praesidia including one in Copenhagen, Denmark. Works include, devotions at homes for the elderly with a priest or deacon, catechism to English speaking children, visiting old people and praying with them, visiting bereaved families, promoting family rosary also organised an Exploratio Dominicalis project. Two members went in April on extension to start the Legion in another parish. Recruitment meetings with ‘Meet the Legion’ video are also taking place.
BELGIUM:
Brussels Regia
A praesidium with 25 active members carry out home and hospital visitation. another. They approached the pair and the father explained that his daughter was angry with him because of a separation in the family. A PPC team of 9 legionnaires from both France and Belgium, conducted a project in Dinant, Belgium. They met a lady who was not baptised and promised to think about becoming a Catholic. An elderly lady who, through old age could not walk, was delighted to meet some legionnaires from Beauraing, who previously visited her.
FRANCE:
Paris Regia:
Founded in 1956, the Lourdes Permanence Centre is celebrating its 70th anniversary from Friday 16th October to Sunday 18th October. Ten legionaries from Paris, Amiens and Strasbourg participated in a PPC in Strasbourg. Some of the villagers were Protestant and very welcoming. The parish priest encouraged families to host the PPC participants. The legionaries met people from Syria, including a young woman whose partner was killed in an accident. She regained hope and confidence and thanked the Blessed Virgin Mary. The legionaries presented miraculous medals.
IRELAND PROVINCIAL
CLOYNE CURIA:
Attendance at meetings is good, especially East Cloyne. The possibility of starting new praesidia in Doneraile and Buttevant has been discussed. Good Counsel praesidium with 4 active members recite Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet at a local Nursing Home and also visit people living alone. Holy Cross praesidium in Charleville, with 10 active and 9 auxiliaries did home and school visitation, with Legion packs for First Communion and Confirmation classes. Street contact in Charleville Plaza received a warm response.
EAST CLARE CURIA:
Tuamgraney with 4 active members visited First Communion and Confirmation classes with the Fatima Statue. Various aspects regarding veneration of Our Lady were discussed. They visit the hospital and nursing home recite the Rosary and organise open air Rosary at the Grotto. Some curia members are doing extension work, moving slowly westward in hopes of initiating a new praesidium.
WATERFORD CURIA:
The May Rosary Rally visited every grotto and shrine during the month at the request of Bishop Cullinane for which he thanked the Legion. A silent retreat attracted a good attendance. Our Lady of Hope gave its first report. They carried out home visitation in 2 estates with the Pilgrim Statue promoting family prayer gaining several new auxiliaries. A video on Frank Duff was shown at one meeting while 2 patrician meetings with inspiring papers lead to fruitful comments by good attendances.
LISMORE CURIA:
While regular works are ongoing, discussion centred around recruitment opportunities, especially after Masses, and increasing the number of auxiliary and active members. Five churches were to receive newly designed posters to initiate this campaign. One young Deus et Patria member went to Belfast for the Legion project at the Fleadh.
THURLES COMITIUM:
Our Lady of Grace junior praesidium visit a hospital and share Miraculous Medals. One accompanies a senior member with the Pilgrim Statue. Another helped on Evangelisation Day. 2 received the John Paul II Award for their Legion attendance and work. Thurles, with 4 active members and a spiritual director presented their 58th
report. Works include nursing home and hospital visitation, Pilgrim Statue circulation with Miraculous Medals, other sacramentals and Legion leaflets. Cashel do pilgrim statue and nursing home visitation, promote First Saturday Devotions and Frank Duff prayer meetings. Clonmel with 17 members, 4 probationers and spiritual director have 4 pilgrim statues. They visit a Ukrainian estate of 46 houses with an Eastern Icon and 4 nursing homes. The spiritual director provides support once a month. The curia Night Fever got a great response. Tipperary curia started a new praesidium in Doon. Galbally have 5 active and 16 auxiliary members. They visited 4 primary schools around Easter, brought the pilgrim statue on home visits and took part in Evangelisation days, Maria et Patria and PPC. Lattin has 5 members and a Legion stalwart as spiritual director. Visitations, crowd contact days and public Rosary feature regularly. Templemore held a recruiting drive in May, helped by Deus et Patria youth members. Consecration Day to Jesus through Mary saw 18 in attendance. Members on PPC were pleased to hear from a Birmingham parish priest that a number of people had returned to Mass.
BIRR-ROSCREA CURIA:
Legionaries brought a statue of Our Lady of Fatima to homes of people who consented. The procession on the Feast of the Assumption to the Grotto in Mount Saint Joseph Abbey coincided with Fr. Walshe’s 80th anniversary of entry to the Order. Our Lady, Queen of Ireland, Dunkerrin do great Legion visitation works despite small numbers, including organising Mass at a number of Mass rocks, prayer in cemeteries, bringing Holy Communion to elderly and assisting the priest in ceremonies throughout the year. Eucharistic Adoration, Church radio and retreats feature regularly. Recruitment is high on their agenda.
ROSS CURIA:
Two praesidia have gained a new member each. Weekly or monthly Rosary recitation takes place in hospitals and nursing homes, appreciated by staff and residents. Two members went on the Maria et Patria project to Killarney. One praesidium with a link to the church shop in Clonakilty prepare prayer-packs for curia distribution. Cemetery Masses attracted large attendances. Confirmation classes heard a talk on Our Lady’s Rosary while receiving one each with accompanying literature.
KERRY COMITIUM:
Bishop Brown gave a moving allocutio at the May curia meeting in which he compared the work of the Legion as being like St. Brendan setting out on his voyage. 43 attended a Frank Duff meeting in Killeentierna. A large crowd participated in the May procession in Tralee. A concelebrated Mass for Edel Quinn took place in Castlemagner on May 12. Fatima Rosary on the 13th
of each month from May to October in Killarney had recruiting and medal distribution before and after. Extension and recruiting in Listry and Milltown with follow-up meetings resulted in 3 young men expressing interest in the Legion of Mary. One member went on PPC to Bristol.
CORK COMITIUM:
Our Lady of Graces presented their first annual report. 6 active members did weekly street contact in the busy Pope’s Quay- North Main Street area engaging many of the younger generation of various faiths and lapsed Catholics, persuading a number to return to Mass. 18 attend their patrician meetings with legionaries and non-members discussing faith-based topics. Recruitment drives are a priority with the blessing of the comitium. Their Camino de Cork, visiting city centre churches finished with prayer and refreshments at St. Martin’s Chapel. Our Lady of Lourdes praesidium visit Macroom Hospital and 2 nursing homes reciting the Rosary with patients. They do home visitation and recite Rosary at the Grotto in Crookstown in May and October and distribute sacramentals obtained on pilgrimage in the local community. 3 legionaries went on PPC to the UK. 12 legionaries received a letter of thanks from one parish priest who remarked on the profound effect the visit had on his parishioners.
LIMERICK CURIA:
Street contact continued throughout a busy sunny summer. About 100 Miraculous Medals and 15 Rosary beads were warmly received each week. The Catholic faith was a recurring topic of conversation and people new to Ireland were directed to the nearest Mass. The Crescent Shopping Centre is still a focal point for medal and Rosary distribution and for prayer in the adjoining chapel. The curia has developed a good relationship with halting site residents. Children enthusiastically take part in Rosary recitation with adult relatives.
DUBLIN NORTHSIDE CURIAE
EXALTATA:
Curia has 10 attached praesidia and 73 members in total. The main work of a praesidium is statue visitation, where they encourage daily family prayer. A couple reported reconnecting with their faith as a result. The parish priest has asked members to assist with weekly Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament by preparing the altar before adoration and restoring it afterwards. This devotion is now in its 11th
year and it is encouraging to see that the attendance has increased. At Christmas and Easter, the legionaries assist with the distribution of the parish newsletter and in November they distribute the altar list of the dead to over 200 homes. Much of their apostolic work is centred on supporting the priests of the parish. Members took part in the inner-city project, where they spoke with a young man struggling with drug addiction. The legionary was able to introduce him to the Cenacolo Community. Members of another praesidium volunteer in Regina Coeli Hostel and help with a variety of functions that help in the running of the Hostel. While on duty, members take the opportunity to talk with the residents, listen to their concerns, encourage them in their faith and in accessing help for various needs. They also organise a weekly prayer/Bible study meeting with the residents.
VENERANDA:
Curia has 7 attached praesidia and a total membership of 43. As there was no praesidium report last month a discussion was held on home visitation. Each praesidium had been given a copy of Frank Duff’s essay ‘The Spirit of Home Visitation’ to read and consider prior to the meeting. A practical and thorough discussion took place and members were encouraged to undertake home visitation alongside other works. Monthly curia book-barrow in Ballymun continues.
PRESENTATA:
A praesidium with nine full members four of which are praetorians, carries out regular recruitment drives outside local churches. Members volunteer in the Regina Coeli Hostel. Works include pilgrim statue apostolate where a resident is given the statue for a week and undertakes to pray; First Friday devotions with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the oratory; weekly Bible Study. Their video of the Tessera (created in 2025) has over 49,000 views on YouTube. Other works include cleaning/preparation of rooms for new residents, general maintenance, stock taking and ordering of food and supplies. Another praesidium has 5 full members, one probationer and 20 auxiliaries. The main works are African chaplaincy Mass; Morning Star Hostel and monthly Patrician meetings. Legionaries recently encountered a man with personal difficulties who was encouraged to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation before going into rehab. The junior praesidium is expanding.
BETHLEHEM:
Curia has 5 attached praesidia and 20 members. A praesidium with 3 full members and 25 auxiliaries presented its annual report. Weekly home visitation is the main work of the praesidium. Medals and legion literature are offered and legionaries receive a warm response. Seventy Maria Legionis are distributed each quarter. A book stand is set up regularly outside No. 28, Mountjoy Square. Legionaries engage with people from all over the world, explaining the Catholic Faith and offering a Miraculous Medal. Monthly curia street contact has continued through 2026.
CONSOLATA:
Monthly curia contact work continues in a different parish each month, and is used as an opportunity to recruit new members to the local praesidium. Faith ‘n’ Fun summer project for children was held in August. A praesidium’s works include statue visitation, beach contact and home visitation in the new housing estates. Many good contacts are made with new parishioners who are interested in knowing times of Masses and other church events. Devotion to the Sacred Heart was promoted during June. Legionaries pray the rosary with a different class each week in the local National School. Another praesidium’s works include home and nursing homes visitation and they recently started beach contact work. Legionaries offer the Miraculous Medals and explain it. They spoke to a man who was lapsed who said it was providential that the legionaries had called as his father had just died. They encouraged him to attend Confessions and to pray to Our Lady. Legionaries bring Our Lady and the Sacred Heart statues to the nursing homes and sing hymns and pray the Rosary. They bring Holy Water, as the staff often ask for a blessing. They give Faith packs to the Confirmation children in the local school, followed by a brief talk on the Legion.
PORTA COELI:
The new praesidium in Raheny now has 4 probationary members and 1 full member who recently took his promise. The praesidium also has a spiritual director who attends most weeks and is constantly amazed at the scope of Legion activity. Four legionaries from curia also attend the meetings. A member attended the Vigil Mass in St. Nicholas of Myra and brought two friends with her. They all enjoyed the refreshments afterwards in Myra House.
QUEEN OF PEACE:
Curia has 6 attached praesidia and a total membership of 48. Overall attendance has improved as Summer ends. The first curia member to go on PPC highly recommended the experience. He said that there was great organisation and spiritual energy and the project resulted in the setting up of a praesidium with 15 potential members. .
AFRICA C
BENIN:

Douala Senatus:
March minutes received. A congress was held on the 30th and 31st
January. Details are awaited. Works mentioned are home, hospital and prison visitation, street contact and orphanages. Catechesis classes. Several conversions were reported in the reports. Seven members are on probation as a result of an Exploratio Dominicalis.
Bamenda Comitium:
Works are restricted because of the war. The legionaries had a meeting with 15 seminarians.
TOGO:
Lome Senatus
July minutes received. Many new praesidia and curiae have been set-up as a result of Exploratio Dominicalis and evangelisation projects. Home, hospital and auxiliary members visitation, a very high number of catechumens as well as conversions are mentioned in the reports.
SENEGAL:
Regia of Dakar:
Homes, hospitals and prison are visited, street contact and book barrow apostolate, catechesis classes are among the works mentioned. Eight conversions.
GUINEA:
Conakry Comitium
Home, hospital, prison and orphanage visitation is carried out. New praesidia are being considered. A request by Conakry comitium to print 2000 handbooks got the go ahead from Concilium.
BURKINA FASO:
Ouagadougou:
Three comitia held their Acies on March 22nd 2026 attended by 9 affiliated curiae with 1,787 attendees. Evangelisation and the call to holiness was the theme of the sermon. On the 1st May 2026 on the feast of Saint Joseph, 201 legionaries, following prayers and Mass, went to 2 hospitals visiting the sick where patients were anointed; communion was distributed and confessions were heard. Similarly, Comitium of Our Lady of the Apostles held their Acies on Match 22nd which was attended by 43 presidia officers and 759 members. During the year 3,647 patients in hospitals were visited and spiritual services rendered. There were similar reports from the dioceses of Manga reporting legionaries visiting the sick and elderly. There were also reports of other works of evangelisation. This, despite the unsettled and dangerous security situation in Burkina Faso.
The REPUBLIC OF CONGO:
Senatus of Brazzaville:
This report covers the period of September to November 2025. No further minutes have been received since then. The minutes show that the work of evangelisation continues. Many contacts were made among Muslims and pagans. One comitium encourages couples to be married in the Church and 9 couples responded and another 19 couples were reconciled. Dolisie Regia the apostolate bore fruit in that 46 people asked to be enrolled in catechism classes, 29 couples were reconciled, 15 people returned to the Sacraments, and 33 people asked for Confession and Communion. 400 copies of the New Testament were distributed. The comitium in Moungali in Brazzaville organised a conference for the legion officers in Linzolo the national shrine to Our Lady. 32 legionaries attended. In November a retreat for young people gathered a group of 240 young people.
IVORY COAST:
Ivory Coast Senatus:
May minutes received. Legionaries recruit in hair salons, sewing shops, bus stations, restaurants, schools, and markets. As a result of their efforts six adult and one youth praesidia are currently being formed. In one parish legionaries carry out their weekly apostolate visiting homes and health centres. At one dilapidated health centre, they organised major clean-up and prayed for the renovation of the centre. Sometime later, the Chief Medical Officer informed them that an embassy had offered to completely renovate the health centre. He told the legionaries first, convinced that the renovation was the fruit of their prayers. The centre is now known locally as “Maman Marie’s Hospital.” The Legion’s excellent reputation has also attracted new members, including the Chief Medical Officer’s wife. A community that once had only one praesidium now has three. Other works include church, cemetery, and Marian grotto maintenance, leading the rosary, and assisting priests on rural pastoral visits, visitations to the elderly, prisoners, lapsed legionaries, and auxiliary members. Catechism classes are offered to 320 people.
GUINEA EQUATORIAL:
Malabo Regia
Eight praesidia and 2 curiae reported recently. Reports indicate an improvements in, punctuality and Legion work commitment and it is hoped that this trend will continue. A praesidium with 25 members and 8 in probation was advised to divide. A curia reported 27 praesidia with 637 active members and 100 in probation including many young members. A Frank Duff prayer group was set up recently.
MEXICO and CENTRAL AMERICA
MEXICO
Mexico City Senatus:
1 regia, 3 comitia, 4 curiae and 4 praesidia reported. A new praesidium with 12 prisoners was set up in the State prison of Tulancingo, 3 new praesidia in Cuautia and 5 in Tulpetiac. A number of priests have also shown interest in having a praesidium. The Archdiocese of Tulancingo reported 1,170 active members in 17 curiae, and 13 praesidia. They have one praesidium in one of the suffragen dioceses and none in the other. They have been encouraged to organise extension projects. 20 marriages were regularised. The comitium of Tetecala highlighted the fact that one parish only remains without the Legion. At the August senatus meeting, the conversion of a Protestant was reported. The convert is now a legionary.
Merida Senatus
2 praesidia, 4 curiae, 7 comitia and 1 regia reported. The attached regia set up 40 new praesidia and the attached comitia and curiae set up 15 praesidia during this period. Large numbers have returned to the Catholic Church. 20 auxiliaries have joined as active members. A comitium reported that of the 758 active members 127 are probationers. Over 2,000 sick persons received the sacrament of the sick. Almost all the councils report many marriages regularised.
Guadalajara Senatus:
7 praesidia and 4 curiae reported. One of the attached curiae works in a very difficult area but the legionaries give great testimony in the area with very interesting contacts. A curia helped a weak praesidium to build up membership, as it was at risk of closure and another curia set up a new praesidium. One man confessed after 50 years and another after 30 years. The longest functioning praesidium in the Senatus area has 11 active members, including 3 probationers, presented its 60th annual report.
CENTRAL AMERICA.
EL SALVADOR:
Senatus of San Salvador:
3 praesidia, 2 curiae and 1 regia reported during this period. Street contacts seem to be the predominant Legion work. Nine contacts including a young evangelical were instructed in the Catholic Faith and received into the Church. A protestant couple were also instructed in the Faith concluding with the sacrament of marriage. Two praesidia were set up, a junior and a senior.
HONDURAS:
Senatus of Tegucigalpa:
The newly elected officers are working well. They organised a national gathering with an attendance of 250 legionaries from the different councils. The Cardinal and many priests and spiritual directors attended. The Diocesan radio also transmitted a short programme. A small group started a weekly radio programme recently to evangelise and talk about Our Lady. It is based on the handbook.
COSTA RICA:
Costa Rica Senatus
The legionaries work closely linked to the parish by visiting the families and encouraging Mass attendance. They also visit the elderly in Nursing Homes and in their family homes. One of the praesidia did an Exploratio Dominicalis project promoting the Consecration of each home to the Sacred Heart.
PANAMA:
Panama Regia:
There are 12 praesidia, 6 curiae and 3 comitia affiliated to the Regia. The extension to 9 parishes continues slowly but positively. Young people are contacted and encouraged. Thirty-three homes were consecrated to the Sacred Heart. A praesidium reported 5 new members made their Legion promise.
NICARAGUA:
Nicaragua Regia
There are 3 comitia and 8 curiae with a total of 47 praesidia affiliated to the regia. Home visitation and visitation of the sick and elderly are the main legion works. Consecration of homes to the Sacred Heart also figures in some of the reports.
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC:
Senatus of Santo Domingo
3 comitia and 3 praesidia reported: The entire membership of the Senatus was present at the meeting except the treasurer of one praesidium. There are 335 active members of whom 142 are praetorians, 1,077 auxiliaries and 32 adjutorians. Home and hospital visitation is carried out. Legionaries bring the Blessed Eucharist to a large number of the sick in their homes. Bible study sessions are held in homes.
Senatus Santiago de los Caballeros
2 comitia and one curia reported. The comitia increased its membership by 14 and 13 respectively. The most notable activity was catechesis for the reception of the sacraments. There were 25 First Communions, 545 confirmations and 10 marriages.

VISITS
Concilium gave its consent to sending 2 Concilium visitors to Ecuador from 27 October to 7 November. The itinerary is to be discussed with the Senatus.
Permission was also granted to pay for Maltese legionaries to visit Turkey and Greece during October.

ELECTION OF CONCILIUM OFFICERS
Sr. Lóirín O’Leary was proposed and seconded for the office of Vice President. As there were no other nominations, Sr. O’Leary was elected for a first term.
Sr. Miriam McKane was proposed and seconded for the office of Secretary. As there were no other nominations, Sr. McKane was elected for a second term.
Assistant Treasurer – as there were no nominations for this post the election was carried over to the October Concilium meeting.
Notice of Election for Assistant Secretary was given for the October meeting.
Sr. Helen Murphy (outgoing Vice President) and Sr. Sile O’Neill (outgoing Assistant Treasurer), both having completed a second term, were thanked for their generous service to the Concilium.

DEATH OF EDITOR OF MARIA LEGIONIS
Sr. Maura Wall (of Mater Ecclesiae curia) paid tribute to Br. Frank Holohan who died unexpectedly in August. Frank served as Editor of Maria Legionis where be brought a wide variety of talents to hear. He was a teacher, school inspector and poet. A number of his poems appeared in the magazine periodically.
